This is a time for the Unpaid Carer to talk to a trained counsellor who will listen to them and give them an opportunity to discuss how their caring role impacts on them. Relationship counselling provides Unpaid Carers with professional support with their relationship as a couple (that is primarily but not exclusively with the person they care for). It provides them with a safe space to develop understanding into how the changes in the dynamic of the relationship can affect them, how to avoid or minimise problems and difficulties arising and ultimately, how to cope with their caring role alongside other roles they play in each other’s lives. Counselling may help the carer individually or as part of the couple depending on their difficulties, needs and circumstances.

Deirdre has been practising her therapies in Central Scotland for 20 years and is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. When treating clients, Deirdre enjoys integrating different types of bodywork such as Craniosacral therapy and Massage, Fascial Release Work, Listening Techniques, and Reflexology.

Her style of treatment includes listening to the bodies tissues and rhythms in order to encourage the body back into balance. Delicate and precise techniques are used to facilitate a release from the tissues. Deirdre has an interest in treating those who are in chronic pain, those who suffer from stress, have experienced trauma or have long term health problems. Treatments are tailored to the individual, and one therapy or a combination may be used.

Rosemary was a nurse for 18 years before retraining as a social worker. For the last 10 years she supported unpaid carers within their caring role. Now retired she is keen to continue supporting carers by offering Massage, reflexology, Indian head massage and Reiki.

I work in the Cherrybank area of Perth. I qualified in Clinical Aromatherapy in 1997, Reflexology in 1999 and it went on from there. I have been running my own therapy business since 2005 and love what I do. It is a privilege to be able to help people with their aches and pains, stress and emotional issues.

Samantha first graduated from Plymouth University with a Bachelor in Education in 2007. Since, she has worked closely with children and families as a teacher. Throughout her career she has worked both within the UK and Asia. It was during her time in Asia where she was introduced to traditional Chinese therapies. She became fascinated by the healing benefits of these therapies and decided to embark on her journey to support local families with finding a holistic therapy that promotes physical and emotional healing and generally improved wellbeing.
