PAMIS Tayside

PAMIS was established in 1992 to provide support for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), their family and carers and interested professionals. 

The Family Support Service in Tayside works with families and professionals to help make real change happen for people with PMLD.   To achieve this we work closely with family carers to ensure their views are heard at both national and local levels. We also work in partnership with colleagues in Health and Social Work to ensure that the needs of people with PMLD and their carers is highlighted within current health and social care strategies and policies.

• We offer home visits to discuss any problems families might be experiencing
• We support families at meetings, reviews, hospital and G.P. appointments
• We support the professionals and staff involved in the lives of the individuals and families that we support

PAMIS is also active in NHS Tayside’s Best Practice Group and works closely on issues related to PMLD in the acute hospital setting.  

PAMIS also represents families on the Dundee Strategic Planning Group and the PiP implementation group.
