The end of last year was a very busy time for our Young Carers as always! Read on to find out what they got up to!
Bute House Party
We were fortunate enough to receive an invitation from The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to take a small group of young carers along to a party she was hosting at her residence, Bute House. This was a fun packed day with a balloon modeller, a magician and an all you can eat buffet. She had then organised for us to sit on a dress rehearsal of The Pantomime at the Lyceum Theatre which was Peter Pan. We were greeted at the Theatre with costumes to dress up in and snacks. After the dress rehearsal we were then all given ice-cream! To top off this magical day the first minister stayed with us throughout the whole event!
Christmas Meal
This year we treated both of the S2+ Respite groups to a Christmas meal at Frankie and Bennies where we all enjoyed a 2 course meal including desserts of course! :p

Perth Panto
Once again Thornton’s Solicitors kindly donated us 12 tickets to this year’s Pantomime at Perth Theatre. As well as the tickets they donated us goodie bags with sweeties and drinks to enjoy throughout. The Blairgowrie Primary had a blast!

PKAVS Mental Health and Well-Being Hub Panto
The Mental Health and well-being hub kindly donated us a whopping 50 tickets to the panto they put on this year ‘Snow White and the 7 dwarfs on the yellow brick road to recovery’ we allocated these tickets to families so the young carers were able to spend some quality time with their love ones. Everyone involved had a great time!

Christmas Extravaganza!
This year we hosted the annual Christmas extravaganza here at The Gateway! We had a jam packed day full of fun and activities. We had appearances from Santa, Buddie the Elf, Minnie Mouse and even Olaf. Throughout the day we had a Disco complete with a bouncy Castle also we had an inflatable whack-a-mole. There was face painters, glitter hair girls, an arts and crafts room, a photo booth and Santa’s grotto. Then there’s the food, we had a hot dog stand, a candy floss stand, chocolate fountains as well as an impressive party buffet. There was over 140 people attended including young carers and their families.
