AK Bell Library is seeking volunteers to staff a Playlist for Life Help Point.

Playlist for Life: Personal music for dementia, can help transform the lives of people living with dementia and for those who care for them, by evoking memories, prompting conversation and strengthening relationships; improving mood and awareness; and grounding people and restoring their ‘sense of self’ if confused.

As a volunteer, you will receive training from a volunteer who has attended the Playlist for Life training. You will help to promote Playlist for Life to the general public, especially those living with dementia and their carers. You will help individuals with any questions that they might have relating to setting up a playlist of music, and assist individuals to select and download music to a device such as a MP Player, iPad, etc.

We need volunteers who:

• have  a welcoming personality with a positive attitude
• are able to deal with a dementia, and who are willing to learn about how dementia affects people
• have basic computer skills and personal experience of listening to music on a phone or MP3 player, i.e. the ability to download music to a device
• are able to work independently with minimal support
• have some knowledge of the following: Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, YouTube
