Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Young Scot is not currently able to send out physical rewards packs to young carers. On a positive note, they have developed new and exciting digital opportunities available for young carers as part of the Young Carers Package, all of which are accessible from home.
A package of benefits for long-term young carers aged 11 - 18 to recognise the important role they play and support them to make the most of their free time.
Young carers can enter prize draws to win and make direct claims of online vouchers and subscriptions including Netflix and Amazon e-vouchers and the Headspace Mindfulness App. New opportunities will be added in the coming weeks to help young carers and their families to stay connected, entertained and to promote health and wellbeing.
Other rewards include Hey Girls sanitary products e-voucher, phone top-ups (O2, Vodafone, Three) and ASDA e-voucher. New opportunities will be added, too.
If a young carer is aged 12-18 and already signed up to the package, they will find these rewards on their Membership dashboard.
If a young carer is not yet signed up for the package then please encourage them to do so.
Firstly the young carer must become a Young Scot Member and will need their Young Scot National Entitlement Card to hand.
The next step is to apply for the package, they should simply select 'Apply for Young Carers Package' under 'My Membership'.
If a young carer is under aged 11, they will not be able to access the package through Young Scot Membership due to data protection restrictions. However, those who are aged 11 will be able to complete an online form to apply for interim support through the package until they turn 12. When eligibility has been approved we shall share one digital reward by email to a trusted adult named by the applicant, who can support the young carer to access. This reward will be a £20 Amazon e-voucher for the next few weeks and may change.
Visit the Young Scot New Digital Opportunities for Young Carers page for further information and support.
